"My interpretation of this is more that he's in a relationship with this girl but as the relationship goes on he gives more and more of himself to her to the point where she is whole and he is nothing more than a shell of the man he used to be, whether that be because she hurt him or broke up with him but you see as the music and animation progresses, the female character becomes more and more detailed and the male less and less. He realizes that he's given her everything but it's not be returned."
